There are basically three different types of materials, metal, wood and plastic. Each type has its pluses and minuses.
Metal swing sets are known as tough and fair price and still very popular in playgrounds. Simple wood kits are made of high quality pressure treated wood that can withstand up to 10 or 20 years. And they are chemically treated to prevent councils and insect infestations. The better wood kits are made of cedar or redwood, which is a natural resistance to decay and insect attack. But price is the biggest problem for wood swing sets. The better and better materials will cost you more.
Plastic swing sets are the favorite toys for small children because it is safer and cheaper and also has a wide range of sizes and types. Some plastic kit is small enough that there may be in a room with extra safety and comfort of parents to care for small children.
